”I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.” -Jeremiah31:3
As Christians, we are grafted in to the family of God. We are part of His chosen people and He loves us. He loves us with a love that will last forever, and He draws us to Himself with a love that acts kindly toward us.
Part of the definition of this word “love” in the original Hebrew states, “God’s love to His people.” (Strong’s 160 – “ahabah”). That evokes in me a sense of being special. It makes me think that God has a special love for me, for all of His people.
Think back to when you first came to know Christ. What kinds of things drew you to Him? As for myself, I can remember many acts of kindness that led me to believe that maybe God loved me after all. Maybe He wasn’t just some angry old guy up in the sky waiting for any excuse to throw a lightning bolt my way. He didn’t have to instill in me an urge to find a church. He didn’t have to lead me to a place where I felt comfortable. He called me in love, He revealed Himself in love, and He continues to work in my life with more love and kindness than I could ever think of deserving. He does that for whomever He chooses and for whomever is willing to be drawn into His lovingkindness.
