”Since you are precious in my sight, since you are honored and I love you, I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life.” -Isaiah 43:4
The context of this verse is God talking to His beloved Israel whom He swore to protect. He laid waste to Egypt in order to secure their freedom (Exodus chapter 7-14). Egypt was sacrificed rather than have Isreal continue in slavery.
True believers are precious in God’s sight. They are His “peculiar treasure” (Exodus 19:5 KJV). Jesus Christ was sacrificed in our place. It was Christ’s life in exchange for ours because we are precious in God’s sight. There’s no greater love than that. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” -John 15:13. God gave His Son and Christ gave His life, all for the sake of love – love for those who are precious in His sight.
