Every year I do my best to focus on the reason we celebrate Christmas – the birth of Jesus and the gift of salvation that He brought. This year I’ve decided to pick a verse a day leading up to Christmas and expound a little on its meaning to me. If you’d care to join me on this little journey, you are more than welcome. 😊
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel’ – which means ‘God with us'”. -Matthew 1:22-23
Immanuel – God with us. He was with us in human form when Jesus walked the earth. He came that first Christmas to be with us, born of a virgin in a stable, of all places. He is with us now, dwelling in the hearts of believers as the Holy Spirit within us. He will be with His people forever as we dwell with Him throughout eternity!
Father, thank You for hope and a future – with You – beyond the hardships and limitations of this world. Thank You for that first Christmas when You came to be with us, teach us, and save us from the bondage of sin and death! Thank You for the true meaning of Christmas!
